Halloween Vampire Party - Gothic Inspired

My attraction to vampire stories started long ago when I opened my first vampire book, Anne Rice's Interview with the vampire.  Who could resist Louis?.  Since then, I've read a lot of vampire books and watched a lot of vampire movies but tend to always gravitate to the image of the gothic vampire, the suave and sophisticated creature of the night.

This party is set in the 18th century and involves a select group of stately vampires enjoying a blood tasting that includes a small sample of Count Dracula's blood.  The party is very vintage and includes lots of crystal, silver and very old books with a small set of printable elements that are available in our store.

A great option best suited for an adult audience.

Enjoy,  Julie

Halloween Vampire Party Gothic Inspired

This party was planned a good year in advance that allowed me to collect some wonderful vintage pieces including Crystal decanters and glasses, silver platers and lots of very old books.  Each decanter held a different blood type (aka Red Wine), tasting notes were provided.

Halloween Vampire Table Decorations

The decanters were arranged on piles of vintage books and vintage silver pedestal trays reminiscent of a stately drawing room or library.  Vintage stemware in crystal and silver was arranged for the wine tastings.

Tall candles provided height for the table.  the only modern element on the table was some select bats placed on candle sticks and books.

Halloween Vampire Syringe Cocktail

I included some old Chinese and Egyptian pieces on the table to make the host appear well travelled.  During the evening we served a Blood Tingle Cocktail with a Syringe.  Safe useable Syringes are available on-line and our blood tingle cocktail was a standard fruit tingle with a Cherry Advocaat substituted for Blue Curacao.

Small battery tea lights  were placed around the decanters and glasses to caste an ernie glow over the table.

When creating this look it's important to source a variety of old books with different covers and widths, just ensure they are stable to support the decanters.

The room was kept quite dark for this party that allowed the glow from the tea lights and candles to caste shadows over the table.

To add to the drama I created "blood Tasting Notes" depicting the unfortunate individuals who freely or not so freely made blood donations for the evening.

Catering

This was a late party so catering was as simple as drinks and simple finger food. I always make a couple of large bowls of punch at halloween.  We served a non alcoholic Bloody eyeball punch and an allocholic dragon blood punch.

A cheese platter is always great for halloween and a tray of assorted niceness such as olives, wasabi peas and dragon balls with a couple of red dips.

Vodka Jelly Shots have became a staple at my halloween parties and are always consumed.  A small collection of printable elements were created for this party, they are available in our shop.

A Halloween Gothic Vampire Blood Tasting Party is a great option for a Halloween Party, especially if you love vintage pieces.

We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I hope you have enjoyed the photos.

Time to think about next year!

Halloween Vodka Jelly Shots

Halloween Vodka Jelly Shots

Hard to go past Vodka Jelly shots at Halloween served in a skull shot glass.

This year we had a Witch Hansel and Gretel theme party so the jelly was green.  We created the jelly toppers for this party and they are available as a free down load.

I make the jelly slightly more liquid than the packet recommends and add 1/4 cup of Vodka per packet.

These are great for a crowd.

Enjoy Julie

Halloween Cranberry Punch - Love Potion Punch

One bowl of punch is never enough for a large halloween party, so this year we had three.  One alcoholic and two non alcoholic for the children.

A super nice punch was our Cranberry punch which we served as non-alcoholic but a shot or two of Vodka would work a treat with this punch.

For this party we created a set of free downloadable halloween punch tents so you can create the look at home. You can catch the entire party here.

Enjoy Julie

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 part cranberry Juice
  • 1 part Ginger Ale

  4. Enjoy

Halloween Witch Party - Hansel and Gretel Party with dessert table

This year we created a Hansel and Gretel Halloween theme.  This party consumed a large part of the house with a full dessert table, working Witch's kitchen and a darker adult take on Hansel and Gretel.

For this post we focus on the dessert table where we used elements of Hansel and Gretel first finding the Candy House through to the nastier side of the Witch.  We created a set of printable products to accompany the dessert table, these are available from our shop.

This theme was a lot of fun we hope you enjoy.

Julie

Halloween Hansel and Gretel Dessert Table

Our dessert table used a simple crushed velvet table cloth.  On the wall we added a large spooky cardboard cut out tree with a witch peeking around the side.  Some large spiders were then added to the wall.

The cupcakes represented the Witch's candy house.  We used a small violet crumble's for the house and licorise all sorts for the roof and door.  The house was decorated with tiny trees and candy canes from a christmas sprinkle range.

Halloween Hansel and Gretel Cupcakes

I find layered coloured jelly is always popular with the children, we made the jelly in spooky cups and topped with toppers from our Hansel and Gretel printable range

For cookies we used a witch boot and shoe, we decorated these quite simply with gold and silver couscous balls.

Colourful candy is a must for this theme, we used small crystal bowls and lots of shapes and colour.

Halloween Hansel and Gretel

Toffee apples are also great for a halloween Witch theme, we used black chopstick and decorated using mini bunting from our printable range.

The cup cakes did take some time to assemble but used simple techniques.

Halloween Witch Party - How to Create a Witch's House with Free Halloween printables

Almost time for another halloween season.  I really love halloween as I can go totally over the top and totally get away with it.

This year we decided on a Hansel and Gretel Witch party and a large amount of the house was used to create a Witch atmosphere.  We created a Witch's Kitchen and included lots of lotions, potions and a large stove.  This area kept all the children engaged for hours as they served each other severed fingers, brains and other ghastly morsels.

We created a set of printable tents to label our lotions, potions and body parts.  We are offering this range as a free printable to help you create this look.

And yes, I was a very evil green Witch with my youngest children being Hansel and Gretel.

Enjoy  Julie

Hansel and Gretel Witch Party

Our kitchen was created by attaching a large amount of crushed velvet to curtains with pegs to form a black background, we then added bookshelves and repurposed an old corner TV unit as an oven.

We collected a lot of cut glass and crystal bottles to use for potions.  These were filled with coloured water and herbs.

I found a range of skull bottles in a local discount store and used cauliflower for brains,

The stove was created using an old corner TV unit, cardboard boxes, lots of black paint and halloween ornaments.

Halloween Witch Oven Decorating Ideas

Wine bottle crates were used to make small shelves around the stove.  We included spiders, zombie body parts and very small bottles with dyed water and small pickled onions with a clove stud.

Halloween how to decorate a Witch Kitchen

A large cauldron was filled with bones and an over sized wooden spoon.  I used a lot of battery tea lights under the red cellophane which glowed nicely at night.

Halloween Witch Oven

We used a lot of different colours in our potion bottles.

Halloween Witch Party Decorating Ideas

We did include a couple of scary Witch's scattered through the house.

Halloween Witch Party Hansel and Gretel Theme

Incorporate vingage elements to the theme, I found a vintage silver and glass casserole dish which was filled with eyeballs,

We did include other items in our Witch's kitchen such as my talking Crystal Ball Witch, a very odd bunny growing horns and some Tru Blood.

We created printable tents for this party including lot's of lotions, potions and body parts.  These are available as a free download.  For best results printed the cards on bond 200 card paper.

For this party we created a set of free  halloween punch tents so you can create the look at home.

Halloween Adult Witch Party Hansel and Gretel

Finally the first day of October, and the start of Halloween season.

Who says Halloween is just for children, luckily for me I have a number of adult friends who share my enthusiasm for dressing up and partying at Halloween.  This year we had a Witch Party with a  Hansel and Gretel theme, and while I did allow the dessert table to be child friendly the rest of the house was very dark and defiantly post the Hansel and Gretel Candy House.

The centre piece for this party was a Witch House in the woods and we will  post a tutorial on how to create this over the next couple of days.

This was a dark theme but perfect for an adult halloween party, we have created free printables for you to use and enjoy.

Enjoy Julie.

Halloween Hansel and Gretel Witch Party

The House and Forest were the centre piece for this party, we then strategically surrounded the house with Champagne glasses, Glass Punch Bowls and Witch food.

Halloween Hansel and Gretel Witch party

Our Champagne glasses were all individually named with famous or should I say infamous Witches and Wizards these circles are included in our free download.

Halloween Witch and Wizard drink tags

We used a lot of candles to create height for the forest, we also used lollipops to frame the pathway to the Witch's house.

Halloween Witch Party centrepiece

We created three punches for this party, the punch bowls were arranged together with bones, links to the recipes will be posted over the next few days with our free printable punch tents.

Halloween Punch Bowls with bones

My Halloween parties normally have vodka jelly shots and this night was no exception

Halloween Vodka Jelly Shots

The house looked great in the dark, it was full of battery tea lights which emitted an eerie glow through the windows.

Halloween Hansel and Gretel Candy House

We served Witch fingers at the party, these are simple packaged Italian Breadsticks with an almond sliver for a finger nail and green food gel to hold the almond.  I tend to use Silver ware and Crystal for food service at Halloween rather than disposable products.

Halloween Witch Fingers

We served a number of simple dips presented in crystal bowls on a silver tray scattered with bones and mice.  The bones were from halloween necklaces.

Halloween Witch Party Food Ideas

We included some wasabi peas, Olive mix and Japanese Oisji peanut crackers.

A selection of cheeses were included with cheese circles from out free printable range.

Halloween Graveyard Tutorial

This Halloween we created a tabletop Graveyard for our Party, this was a great party and the graveyard was a huge success.  To complement the party I've created a tutorial with lots of ideas so you can create your own graveyard at home.  This graveyard looked great in candlelight, select the link to see this Halloween Graveyard party in action.

Materials Required:

  • Shallow cardboard box as a base, or art carvas
  • Back and white paint and brush
  • Duble sided tape
  • White and coloured stones (I used black green and purple)
  • Blu Tack
  • Skeletons (glitter and plain)
  • Halloween jewellery with bones and skulls
  • Small skulls
  • Halloween kits with fences, tombstones and monuments
  • Grim Reaper
  • Battery operated tea lights

This is not difficult to make but does take a few hours to complete.

Enjoy

Halloween Graveyard tutorial

Materials

I've included photo's of the materials used to construct the graveyard.  I found the tombstone kits at on-line party shops and the jewellery and skeletons at discount stores and supermarkets.

Glitter Skeletons - Halloween Graveyard Tutorial

Step 1

Paint a path and circle for the monument in white paint (Make sure you check the size of the monument and pencil the shape).  Use black paint to cover the remainer of the box, including the sides.

Step 1 - Halloween Graveyard tutorial

Step 2

Using double sided tape, attach the fence the the edge of the box

Step 2 - Halloween Graveyard Tutorial

Step 3

Cover the path with small white stones, use a colour stone to create an edge to the path

Step Three - halloween Graveyard Tutorial

Step 4

Place the monument in the circle and surround with skulls.  Continue with the white and colour stones used on the path.  I placed battery operated tea lights inside the monument which looked great at night.

Step 4 - Halloween Graveyard Tutotial

Step 5

Mark out the graves and secure the Tombstones to the board using Blu Tack.  Use White stones with a colour border to mark the graves.

Step 5 - Halloween Graveyard Tutorial

Step 6

Place the skeletons on the graves using different poses.  I used a combination of standing, sitting and crawling.

Step 6 - Halloween Graveyard Tutorial

Step 7

Stand some Skeletons up at the front fence, rear and side fences.  Use Blu Tack to secure if required.

Step 7 - Halloween Graveyard Turotial

Step 8

I created two monuments either side of the path which I attached with Blu Tack.  I used a combination of rocks, skulls and bones at the base of the monument.  I also found a small Grim Reaper that I placed on the path.

Step 8 - Halloween Graveyard Tutorial

Step 9

I used more skulls to define the graveyard gate and placed another skeleton on the path trying to escape.

Step 9 - Halloween Graveyard Tutorial

Step 10

The final touches.  When the day arrives for you to move your Halloween Graveyard into place I added more skeletons and spiders on the table just outside the gate and added cobwebs to the fence.

This looked great with tall vintage candles either side of the graveyard with cobwebs linking them together.
